I founded this shop to help support veterans and children in need. Each year, part of our proceeds are donated to those in need. Donated items can include; new hand made hats, scarves, blankets, yarn and/supplies. If you know an organization in need of these handmade items please contact us and we put them on our list to donate to.
In 2020,SSK Yarners made donations of hats and scarves to Operation Gratitude. Their mission is “To forge strong bonds between Americans and their Military and First Responder Heroes through volunteer service projects, acts of gratitude, and meaningful engagements in communities nationwide.” The hats and scarves were included in care packages sent to active military members abroad. Please visit https://www.operationgratitude.com/ for more information.
In 2019, donations were made to a high school located in South Chicago. Dorothea, who created this after school program, teaches them how to knit and then how to sell their items to the public. The program provides kids a safe place off the streets, as well as, business skills. This year, SSK Yarners donated yarn, notions, project bags, and a yarn winder. Dorothea was so excited to receive all these supplies and this is their first ball winder!
2018 SSK Yarners donated hand made hats, scarves, mittens and blankets to the people of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There will be many people this year with warm hands, necks and heads! It's so simple to give back and my mission is to continue to help others with my etsy shop,
2016 & 2017 I set-up a booth at a local fiberfest (space was generously donated by Georgia FiberFest) asking the knitting and crochet community to donate a hat to the Community Hope for Veterans in Morristown NJ and WOW they did not disappoint! We collected over 500 hats at the fiberfest and many people also mailed hats. They were thrilled to receive so many hats and shared pictures of the grateful veterans and their families. SSK Yarners supplied over 50 hats and the expensive shipping costs.

5 out of 5 starsI love the pale(r) color of this skein! It's still rich, but it's not as in your face as some of my yarn. It's fun and soft and I can't wait to work with it!

5 out of 5 starsThis yarn has wonderful depth of color in the dye and has a nice gradient that will make for a lovely piece or two. I can't wait to work with it!

5 out of 5 starsThis is a fun yarn in a muted colorway that I was unsure of at first but love now that I've started working with it. I'm currently working up a hat and I'm very excited! Love this yarn.
