Sono stato un creatore e un creatore per tutto il tempo che posso ricordare, ma ho trascorso molto tempo intrappolato nel tapis roulant aziendale. Nel 2010, ho deciso di prendermi una pausa per concentrarmi nuovamente su ciò che era importante per me. Mi sono comprata una macchina per maglieria per sperimentare filati pregiati e mi sono iscritta a un corso di Textile Design alla RMIT. durante quell'anno ho creato l'etichetta ethelruby, che prende il nome dalla mia bisnonna che mi ha insegnato a lavorare a maglia.
attualmente, ethelruby offre una gamma di accessori lavorati a mano ea macchina realizzati con filati, fibre e tessuti naturali tra cui cashmere, seta, alpaca, lino, merino e cotone. ogni pezzo è unico e riflette il mio amore per il design semplice ed elegante, i toni tenui e le fibre lussuose.
la mia pratica è in continua evoluzione e ci sono piani per espandere la gamma in articoli per la casa e moda.
Sono appassionato di sostenibilità e sono ispirato dal design innovativo e da persone creative e appassionate della loro vita e dell'ambiente.
I have been a maker and creator for as long as I can remember but spent a long time caught on the corporate treadmill. In 2010, I decided to take some time out to re-focus on what was important to me. I bought myself a knitting machine so I could experiment with fine yarns and I enrolled in a Textile Design course at RMIT. during that year, I created the label ethelruby - named after my great grandmother who taught me to knit.
at present, ethelruby offers a range of hand and machine knitted accessories made from natural yarns, fibres and fabrics including cashmere, silk, alpaca, linen, merino and cotton. each piece is unique and reflects my love of simple, elegant design, muted tones and luxurious fibres.
my practice is always evolving, and there are plans to expand the range into homewares and fashion.
I am passionate about sustainability and I am inspired by innovative design and people who are creative and passionate about their lives and the environment.
