Indigo dye is extracted from the leaves of Indigofera tinctoria plants. It gives great range of blue colors, from "blue sky" to navy blue and very dark blue color, "blue almost black". Indigo is also great for overdyeing with other plant dyes. You can create grass green with yellow dyes or purple with red dyes.

The technique for indigo dyeing textiles and yarns is vat dyeing, you need a reductor and a base to process it. Our indigo cake works well for fructose vat, iron vat and hydro vat as well. The natural blue dye is ready to use, but it is best to grind the indigo cake in a mortar before setting the vat.
