Feathers that turn into the shapes of flames, with wings raised skyward and flowing head plumes make this phoenix pendant a truly unique and special piece of fantasy jewelry. The mystical phoenix is known in many cultures for it's ability to reform from the ashes of it's death, a powerful symbol indeed. The Phoenix is also symbolic of life, magic, purity, rebirth, renewal, longevity, creativity, reemergence and transformation.

As with all my work this fantasy jewelry piece began as an idea which was captured first as a pencil drawing. Then many hours were spent sculpting the figure in wax; this starts by first forming a basic shape and then refining form and musculature, and finally laying detailing overtop. In this case that includes applying each feather one at a time. After the wax sculpture is complete it is then cast in sterling silver using the lost wax method. A patina is then applied followed by polishing to highlight the detail of the fantasy pendant and give depth.

In this fantasy pendant the Phoenix's wings are swept high over head with flaming feathers that raise up and form the bail for a cord to be threaded through. A 16" black cord is included with the pendant. The height of the sterling silver Phoenix pendant is 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches wide.
