I have always had a love of all animals, but have an extra special place in my heart for dogs. Almost 18 years ago my husband and I became the proud parents of a Labrador retriever puppy. I didn’t want to have a dog that sat at home alone all day waiting for its owners to come home from work, so I did some research on things to do and fun places to bring your dog and this is how I discovered the world of therapy dogs. At two years old Tyra became a registered therapy dog. For ten years, Tyra and I visited more facilities than most could imagine including hospitals, Children’s Advocacy Center, nursing homes, schools, cancer facilities and the list goes on. This has been one of the most heartwarming jobs anyone could ever imagine. Once people got to know our team (myself and Tyra), they couldn’t wait to see what Tyra would be wearing, especially if it was during a holiday. Tyra has always been a bit “chubby” and most dog outfits you find in local pet stores did not fit her and during the heat of a Texas summer Tyra did not want to wear an entire outfit, hence Dressed To The K9s was born. The product line focuses on fashion neckwear; unique, fun items that are easy to wear. They either fit around your dog’s neck or attach to the collar or harness. Scrunchys (think human hair scrunchys large enough to fit around a dog’s neck) are simple, comfortable and they do not hinder the dog’s mobility.
