A Jersey native, Lisa grew up in Princeton, and she and husband Don returned in 2016 to live in the unique modern house her architect father built by hand. Its round windows and curving walls, drenched in natural light, provides daily inspiration.

Lisa has worn many professional hats, but in recent decades has put all her focus and time into her passion for making art for the home. Her surname, ‘Firke’, rhymes with ‘quirky’, which seems apt. Her art has been described as “charming and, yes, quirky, with a natural and unmistakeable hand.”

Stylistically, Lisa is little bit folk, a little bit modern—often striking a balance between the rustic and the refined in her art. Having grown up with the graphic simplicity of Mid-Century Scandinavian design, she uses happy colors and lots of negative space to give breathing room to bold hand-drawn silhouettes. She also adores the fanciful details and flourishes found in folk and decorative art and uses them freely.
