The Rowena Bed
This solid hardwood bed features a large handmade headboard and flush mounted rails for a clean modern look. The headboard is a total of 42" top to bottom, making it a real focal point in the bedroom. The bed pieces are finely sanded and the edges are gently rounded over to leave behind safe, smooth edges.

WOOD
The wood used for this bed is Ash (other choices available). Ash is light and golden in color and features wavy brown growth rings. This wood can range from very white in appearance to a pale medium brown. When making these frames, we pay special attention to match the color and grain so it appears seamless. Because wood is a natural product, its beauty marks are normal, and may include knots, knot holes, worm holes, large streaks or sections of light or blond sapwood and/or variations in grain and color. CONSTRUCTION
Our bed frames are handcrafted from furniture-grade kiln-dried solid American hardwoods. Thoughtfully designed and constructed to last for generations, our beds are finished with an eco-friendly oil and wax finish; rich in color, highly protective, will not leave water rings, UV resistant and truly luxurious to the touch. When you buy our beds, you can rest assured that you're not bringing questionable wood or dangerous chemicals into your home, because our wood is solid, new, furniture-grade lumber, our glue is low-VOC and our finish is 0% VOC. Many of our customers have chemical sensitivities, and many people purchase our bed frames for use with organic mattresses. With everything we build, we think about safety, ease of use, practicality and durability of our pieces for generations of use.

Front panel and rails are 18" high.
Headboard runs 42" from the floor
Amount of mattress contained inside the rails: 5" (can be adjusted to suit your mattress height)
Rails: 7"
Clearance under the rails: 11"
A 10" thick mattress will have 5" of mattress extending above the rails, so the mattress top will be 24" from the floor.

MATTRESS SUPPORT
Our slats are untreated kiln-dried poplar hardwoods, 1.125" thick x 5.5" wide
Slat spacing (approximate):
Queen & King with 9 slats: 3.25" apart
Queen & King with 10 slats: 2.17" apart
Cal King with 10 slats: 2.95" apart
Center support & leg are included on King and California King size beds, optional on the Queen.
This bed is meant for just a mattress. Please contact us if we need to modify for box springs.

ASSEMBLY
Our handmade hardwood beds are designed for easy home assembly. This bed frame is made with pre-installed hardware that does not need any glue, screws, or bolts of any kind. All you need is a non-marking mallet or a hammer and a scrap piece of wood, a few smacks and the hardware tensions the wood together for a super sturdy bed. Simply knock it loose when needed for disassembly. Assembly instructions are provided and we are always available to assist over the phone.

CUSTOMIZATION
Each bed we make is different, so don't be afraid to ask us for what you want. Common requests are a larger or smaller headboard, a chunkier leg, more clearance under the bed, a higher or lower mattress height, different slat spacing, different support for box springs, mixed woods, etc. Just send us a conversation. We do make nightstands, dressers and benches as well, and we offer a multi-piece discount.

TIMELINE
Every bed is custom made to order. We need 3 - 5 weeks to build a piece, and shipping takes up to 5 business days. If you need it sooner, we may be able to offer you a faster build date for a small rush fee.

SHIPPING
Packing and shipping are included in the price. We will ship your bed in 1 - 2 very well packed boxes via freight delivery. A signature will be required for delivery because of the value. We will make sure you know in advance which day it should arrive. Or, if you're up for a road trip to Los Angeles, you can come pick it up at our shop for free.

A NOTE TO US
Last thing, please include your mattress dimensions (L x W x H) in a note to us at checkout, along with a good contact phone number for us to give to the carrier. If you don't have your mattress yet, don't worry! We will reach out if there's more info we need before we start building.

All our furniture is handmade, one order at a time. We take pride in delivering the highest quality possible, but quality takes time. We do our best to meet our prospected lead time, but we will never sacrifice the quality of our products for time, please keep this in mind. If it is an urgent need please check in with us about current order status and wait times, we will accommodate the best we can.
