This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.

Plants are guaranteed to arrive in healthy, viable condition. This warranty is contingent upon the Seller receiving prompt notification of any issues or concerns with the plant's condition or appearance.

This notification must be received within 24 hours of delivery and include in-focus photos that clearly show the plant issue, shipping box, and address label. No other additional, extended, or long-term warranty is expressed or implied.

The shipping options to purchase a Heat Pack and upgrade shipping are available in Shipping Options. We recommend that Buyers in locations where tender plants will travel into or through temperatures in the 30s or lower purchase a heat pack and upgrade to faster transit time. Plants that are not cold-sensitive, such as roses and junipers, only require heat packs if temperatures are lower than the mid-20s. Not purchasing a heat pack when shipping to a cold location voids our Warranty. Please send us a message if you need guidance to decide.

Due to agricultural regulations, shipping to Hawaii incurs additional costs, so paying for the upgrade is required. Please note that orders to Hawaii can only be shipped on Mondays and only by Priority Mail.


Cornutia grandiflora is a lesser-known, large growing, flowering tropical shrub that is native to Costa Rica. It matures as a large upright shrub with large, fragrant, velvet-textured, sage green foliage and unusual square-shaped stems.

Large racemes of purple and lavender flowers appear at the terminal ends in a long bloom cycle beginning in late Spring through early Summer. It is often called Tropical or Jamaican Lilac. However it is the leaves and not the flowers that have a fragrance that is described as similar to lilacs.

The flowers are attractive to bees, so this plant is a great choice for Pollinator and Habitat Gardens. It can be incorporated into mixed perennial beds, grown as a large hedge, or in large garden pots and requires little care or maintenance.

Any known shipping restrictions are noted above. We do not ship to the US Minor Outlying Islands, Guam, American Samoa, or the Northern Mariana Islands. Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska may be unavailable during periods of severe cold or other adverse weather at the location or within the transit route. A heat pack is recommended for all places in Alaska. Winter Shipping to Hawaii is not recommended. The shipping upcharge (11.50 for the first item and 3:00 for additional items) is required for locations in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico due to significantly higher shipping costs, extra preparation per Agricultural Regulations, and risk of delays. USPS Priority Mail is the only carrier available for those locations.
