O Projeto Freiras Tibetanas foi fundado há mais de 20 anos para fornecer às freiras tibetanas na Índia uma educação de alta qualidade e ajuda humanitária. O principal objetivo da TNP é permitir que as freiras ganhem a vida com base em sua escolaridade, desenvolvam suas capacidades e estabeleçam projetos que gerem receitas. Além disso, é suposto ajudar as mulheres a ganhar mais reconhecimento dentro do próprio budismo.
Em 14 de agosto de 2014, uma exposição comovente das minhas fotografias "Freiras Tibetanas - Resistência e Compaixão" foi aberta no Museu für Völkerkunde em Hamburgo, Alemanha. A exposição vai até fevereiro próximo. Estou oferecendo 50% das vendas de todos esses artigos aqui para o Projeto Freiras Tibetanas.

Biografia /
Olivier Adam nasceu em 1969. Ele é físico, graduou-se na " Ecole Normale Supérieure" em Paris, mas ao longo dos anos ele se tornou um fotógrafo. Ele agora é fotógrafo de lança livre e professor na escola de fotografia Auguste Renoir, em Paris. Em 2001, seu trabalho sobre a dança khmer e seda foi exibido no "Palais de l'Unesco" em Paris. Há vários anos ele estuda a cultura tibetana e o budismo, especialmente frequentando as aulas de Kalachakra, ministradas por Sua Santidade, o Dalai Lama em todo o mundo. Ele pertence a uma tradição humanista e trabalha em assuntos pessoais, misturando tanto o Homem quanto o Sagrado. Rituais, mulheres e seu universo segurando um lugar importante em suas fotos. Trabalhou em conjunto com Sofia Stril-Rever, Matthieu Ricard e Manuel Bauer em um livro chamado "Kalachakra : un mandala pour la paix", publicado em abril de 2008 pela Editions de la Martinière e também o livro "Dalai Lama-Appel au monde" publicado em maio de 2011 pelo editor Le Seuil. Desde 2008, ele tem estado muito interessado na vida das freiras tibetanas no exílio. Ele começou este trabalho em cinco conventos perto de Dharamsala e ele vai mais longe em conhecer ex-prisioneiros políticos-freiras que receberam abrigo no mundo ocidental. Dakinis, esta série sobre o universo feminino budista, complementada por sons e entrevistas coletadas por Dominique Butet, esposa de Oliviers, agora se estende às freiras de todo o Himalaia.

The Tibetan Nuns Project was founded more than 20 years ago in order to provide Tibetan nuns in India with a high quality education and humanitarian help. The main goal of the TNP is to enable nuns to make a living based on their schooling, to develop their capacities and to establish projects that will generate revenues. Additionally, it is supposed to help women to gain more recognition inside Buddhism itself.
On August 14 2014, a moving exhibition of my photographs "Tibetan Nuns - Resistance and Compassion" opened at the Museum für Völkerkunde in Hamburg, Germany. The exhibition will run until next February. i'm offering 50% of the sales of all these articles here to Tibetan Nuns Project.

Biography /
Olivier Adam was born in 1969. He is a physicist, graduated from the “ Ecole Normale Supérieure” in Paris, but through the years he has turned to being a photographer. He is now a free lance photographer and a teacher at the photography school Auguste Renoir in Paris. In 2001, his work on the Khmer dance and silk was exhibited at the “Palais de l’Unesco” in Paris. For several years now he has been studying the Tibetan culture and Buddhism, specially attending the Kalachakra classes, taught by His Holiness the Dalai Lama all over the world. He belongs to a humanist tradition and works on personal subjects, mixing both Man and the Sacred. Rituals, women and their universe holding an important place in his photos. He has worked together with Sofia Stril-Rever, Matthieu Ricard and Manuel Bauer on a book called “Kalachakra : un mandala pour la paix”, published in April 2008 by Editions de la Martinière and also the book “Dalai Lama- Appel au monde” published in May 2011 by the editor Le Seuil. Since 2008, he has been closely interested in the lives of the Tibetan nuns in exile. He started this work in five nunneries near Dharamsala and he goes further on meeting former political prisoners-nuns who were granted shelter in the western world. Dakinis, this series on the Buddhist female universe, supplemented by sounds and interviews collected by Dominique Butet, Oliviers’s wife, now extends to the nuns from across the Himalayas.
