Anni fa, ho partecipato a un evento incentrato sulla soddisfazione dei clinici. Un oratore era un dirigente che presentava come il suo gruppo ha aumentato i suoi tassi di risposta al loro sondaggio sulla soddisfazione dei medici. Ha attraversato tre interventi, tra cui lotterie, pranzi e incentivi di fine anno.
Ha concluso la sua presentazione rivelando che i tre interventi hanno aumentato i loro tassi di risposta al sondaggio dal 30% fino al 90%. Tutti i partecipanti hanno applaudito i suoi sforzi e ha aperto la sessione per le domande. Ho alzato la mano e ho chiesto: "Dato l'alto tasso di risposta, come hai usato i risultati per migliorare la soddisfazione del clinico?" Mi ha guardato senza battere ciglio e ha detto: "Beh, il nostro bonus esecutivo si basa sui tassi di risposta, NON sui risultati effettivi del sondaggio sulla soddisfazione del clinico". Mi chinai verso un medico seduto accanto a me e dissi: "Non puoi inventare questa roba!"
Quell'esperienza ha ispirato la creazione dei miei fumetti Doc-Related. Sono stati indicati come "Dilbert for Healthcare". I fumetti hanno portato al mio libro bestseller "Doc-Related". Years ago, I attended an event focused on clinician satisfaction. One speaker was an executive presenting on how his group increased its response rates on their clinician satisfaction survey. He walked through three interventions, including raffles, lunches and year-end incentives.
He ended his presentation by revealing that the three interventions increased their survey response rates from 30 percent up to 90 percent. The attendees all applauded his efforts, and he opened the session for questions. I raised my hand and inquired, “Given the high response rate, how did you use the results to improve clinician satisfaction?” He looked at me without blinking and said, “Well, our executive bonus is based on response rates, NOT on the actual clinician satisfaction survey results.” I leaned over to a physician sitting next to me and said, “You can’t make this stuff up!”
