After I sold my house and no longer had the homeowner upkeep chores hanging over my head when I came home from my day job, I found myself very bored and just doing a lot of reading.
I had a few friends who had started Etsy shops and were having a blast making and selling their items all over the world. I've always been a crafty/artsy person and decided to come up with something unique that not many people were selling at the time.....Quilling. It was a very popular craft back in the 70's/80's, but not many shops were doing it on Etsy. I sat down and created several different snowflake designs and to help set my shop apart from the few other shops selling quilling, I came up with unique packaging that turned my creations into already gift-wrapped presentations for my buyers.
It's been so exciting watching my shop grow each year and sending my snowflakes all over the world....Australia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Sweden, Belgium to name a few, and my favorite was Slovania (because I had no idea where that was at). I've also enjoyed the challenges my customers have presented me with, such as creating a monogrammed snowflake or putting a company logo (Jockey International) in the middle of a snowflake. My designs have been used as props in Jockey International and Sundance's holiday catalogs. I've also been contracted to author the quilling section of a book which was published in September 2013. Check it out on Amazon: Snowflakes, Sunbursts and Stars (Fold, Cut, and Curl).
