Ho imparato a cucire alle scuole medie. Penso che fosse il grado 7. Abbiamo avuto una lezione di cucito per circa 3 settimane, perché la scuola voleva dare a tutti i nuovi studenti l'opportunità di provare tutte le classi elettive prima di scegliere 1 da prendere per il prossimo anno intero. Il nostro compito era quello di fare un cuscino. Io, essendo un grande fan de Il Re Leone, volevo fare un cuscino quadrato per una faccia di Simba in feltro nel mezzo. Ho mostrato all'insegnante la mia idea, e lei mi ha guardato dritto in faccia e mi ha detto "Dovresti scegliere qualcosa di più semplice. Questo è troppo difficile". Da quel momento in poi, sono stato agganciato al cucito. La necessità di dimostrare che l'insegnante ha sbagliato (e l'ho fatto! A + su quel cuscino!) e la mia creatività artistica mi ha spinto a insegnarmi a cucire. Finora, lo sto amando!

Il mio desiderio di cucire peluche è iniziato a una convention di anime a cui sono andato. Stavo diventando frustrato perché c'erano questi incredibili peluche My Little Pony che non potevo permettermi. So che valevano i soldi dato che erano adorabili e ben fatti. Mentre camminavo per il congresso, ho visto persone con 2, 3 o più di questi piccoli pony. Ho pensato tra me e me "ci sono soldi da fare qui". La mia spinta finale è stata dal mio fantastico ragazzo che si è seduto con me una notte dicendomi che ho bisogno di provare a cucire e se penso di poterlo fare, dovrei farlo.

Il mio primo peluche da vendere è stato un peluche Mew su eBay per circa $ 15. Ora so che valeva di più, ma ero così felice per la mia prima vendita! Ho fatto qualche ricerca e ho trovato Etsy! Immagino che sia lì che mi trovo in questo momento. Questo è ancora solo un mio hobby che amo, ma sono stato in grado di prendere i peluche che amo così tanto e condividerlo con gli altri ora. Sono veramente grato per questo.

I learned how to sew in middle school. I think it was grade 7. We had a sewing class for like 3 weeks, because the school wanted to give all new students an opportunity to try all the elective classes before choosing 1 to take for the next full year. Our assignment was to make a pillow. Me,being a huge fan of The Lion King, wanted to make a square pillow for a felt Simba face in the middle. I showed the teacher my idea, and she looked me right in the face and told me "You should pick something simpler. This is way too hard." From then on, I have been hooked on sewing. The need to prove that teacher wrong (and I did! A+ on that pillow!) and my artistic creativity has propelled me to teach myself to sew. So far, I am loving it!

My want to sew plushies started at an Anime Convention that I went to. I was getting frustrated because there were these incredible My Little Pony plushies that I could not afford. I know they were worth the money since they were adorable and well made. As I walked around the convention, I saw people with 2, 3, or more of these little ponies. I thought to myself "there is money to be made here". My finally push was from my amazing boyfriend who sat with me one night telling me that I need to try to sew and if I think I can, I should go for it.

My first plush to sell was a Mew plush on eBay for like $15. I now know it was worth more but I was soooo happy for my first sale! I did some research and found Etsy! I guess that is where I am right now. This is still just a hobby of mine that I love, but I have been able to take the plushies I love so much and share that with others now. I am truly grateful for that.
