Handcrafted leather: from masks to personal goods

The first time I've seen creating a leather mask i felt in love with masks and with leather too. Mask charm is about its own character and its power on you: once you wear a mask, it transforms you from inside. When you wear it you breath a previous life, the hard work of maskmakers and your wildness comes out. Everything becomes an emotional explosion. Personally I played with masks, but I have more fun in creating them.

When I work with leather, i clear my mind and time flies. Working leather means to have knowledge and to pay attention to its time, following the folds, or forcing it to become what you want. It'is a challenge ...
Create new projects is fun and exciting. Over time I started to create leather objects. Traditional or innovative projects, but always functional and made with the pleasure of using my hands.

FORMATION
After being assistant of the maskmaker Andrea Cavarra, I started to create my character models of Commedia dell'Arte. The collaboration with my clowning teacher, Marco Ripoldi, led to the creation of clown noses and clown half masks. During a papier-mâché mask project at the Académie Internationale des Arts du Spectacle, directed by Carlo Boso, I had the honor of meeting the maskmaker Stefano Perocco di Meduna, which I have worked a few months for.
