Hace unos años tuve que "descansar" con una lesión, así que decidí investigar el arte del enredo (diseño repetitivo) para mantenerme ocupado. ¡Nació una nueva forma de arte! A diferencia de la mayoría de los que "enredan" o "garabatean", yo no tomé la idea de la forma libre y en su lugar quería hacer creaciones que fueran mucho más complejas y planificadas de manera creativa ... antes incluso de que se dibujen los diseños. Decidí llamar a mi estilo especial, Hid-N-Tangles.
Primero, me sentí inspirada para crear un "retrato" de cada uno de los miembros de mi familia, con diseños ocultos que eran especiales para cada uno de ellos en su interior. A medida que la gente se dio cuenta de mis dibujos, querían que también los hiciera Hid-N-Tangles personalizados. Decidí que si elegía un tema relevante para muchos de mis amigos y familiares interesados, entonces podría servirles a todos. Siendo relativamente nuevo en Florida, decidí convertirlo en mi primer Hid-N-Tangle diseñado para la venta. Poco después, decidí algunas series más: Cartas, imágenes inspiradoras y mi idea original de Animales de carácter.
Las preguntas que más recibo son:
1. ¿Cuántas horas se tardan? (Esto es imposible de decir, dejé de contar después de 40 horas trabajando en el estado de Nueva York...). Los estados requieren la mayor cantidad de detalles e investigación, y toman más tiempo. Hice tiempo para esto: una sección de "borrador final" sobre el tamaño de un billete de dólar me lleva aproximadamente 3 horas en completarse, o más.
2. ¿Cuántos borradores haces? Después de investigar hechos e imágenes, hago alrededor de 6 borradores de la idea de diseño estatal, y luego al menos 2 diseños completos antes de hacer mi final.
3. ¿Están realmente dibujados a mano? ¡Sí! Aunque se escanean digitalmente y se "limpian" de cualquier imperfección (por ejemplo, marcas en el papel), las impresiones se escanean e imprimen a partir de una creación dibujada a mano de 11X14. ¿Qué puedo decir? Las computadoras son increíbles, pero hay algo especial en dibujar con tu propia mano. Es un trabajo de Amor.

A few years ago I had to "rest" with an injury, so I decided to investigate the art of tangling (repetitive design) to keep myself busy. A new art form was born! Unlike most who "tangle" or "doodle", I didn't take to the idea of freeform and instead wanted to make creations that were far more complex and planned out in creative ways... before the designs are even drawn. I decided to call my special style, Hid-N-Tangles.
First, I felt inspired to create a "portrait" of each of my family members, with hidden designs that were special to each of them inside. As people became aware of my drawings, they wanted me to make them personalized Hid-N-Tangles as well. I decided that if I picked a subject matter relevant to many of my interested friends and family, then I could serve them all. Being relatively new to Florida, I decided to make it my first Hid-N-Tangle designed for sale. Shortly after, I decided to a few more series: Letters, Inspirational Images, and my original idea of Character Animals.
The questions I get the most are:
1. How many hours does it take? (This is impossible to tell, I stopped counting after 40 hours working on the state of New York...). States require the most detail and research, and take longer. I did time this: one "final draft" section about the size of a dollar bill takes me about 3 hours to complete, or longer.
2. How many drafts do you do? After researching facts and images, I do about 6 drafts of the state layout idea, and then at least 2 full designs before doing my final.
3. Are these really drawn by hand? Yes! Although digitally scanned and "Cleaned" of any blemishes (ex: marks on the paper) the prints are scanned and printed from an 11X14 hand drawn creation. What can I say? Computers are awesome, but there is something special about drawing with your own hand. It's a labor of Love.
