Crochet is my Therapy
I work as a Registered Nurse in Canada, and was experiencing high stress levels that ultimately resulted in a migraine that lasted for 3 months straight. This wasn't multiple migraines every other day. It was the. same. migraine. that didn't stop for three consecutive months. It was so bad I had to get medical scans, get my wisdom teeth removed, and also see a chiropractor to reduce the pain. I could not work as it was so debilitating, and was set to be a covid-19 screener by occupational health during this time since I could not perform my usual nursing duties on the hospital unit. To help pass the time when I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't read books, I couldn't use my phone or watch tv as they caused too much strain on my eyes, worsening the migraine. I couldn't go outside due to photophobia. Then I remembered a weekend of my childhood where my grandma taught me how to crochet. So I picked it back up, and it helped to pass the time. I found that it was peaceful and therapeutic in my recovery. It helped to slow my racing thoughts. I counted stitches instead of worrying about ridiculous things I can't control. I am healthy again and able to do and enjoy nursing once again. I still crochet nearly every day as a way of therapy against anxiety and as a way to relax before going to bed. Because of this, I have way too many crochet things! My products are priced simply to fund my materials, advertising, and shipping costs. I crochet now as a therapy and as my own little way to spread joy and love to people across North America! <3
