Frequently asked questions
Is anything mailed to me?
No. It's a digital download. You print it at home or at a copy shop.
Can I change the titles?
The 24 envelopes are printed with their titles. There's a blank envelope, and the labels work on any envelope, so you can mix in your own. The file isn't editable.
What paper should I use?
65 lb (176 gsm) cardstock for envelopes, ordinary printer paper for letters and prompt cards, and full-sheet sticker paper for the seals and labels if you want them to peel and stick.
Will the letter paper fit in the envelope?
Yes. Fold the letter paper in half twice and it slides in. The prompt cards fit without folding.
How does the digital part work?
Go to openwhen.cards/redeem/etsy, enter your Etsy order number, and premium turns on. Then write a letter at openwhen.cards and send the link. They don't need an app or an account.
Does premium run out?
After a year. It stays on for a year from the day you redeem it, in the browser you redeem it in. Letters you already sent keep everything.
Can I get a refund?
Digital files can't be returned, but if a file won't open or something printed wrong, message me and I'll sort it out.
Is there anything I should leave out of the letters?
Keep dates, locations and unit details out of anything you write, paper or digital. Your family readiness group will have the specifics for your branch.
Can these go in a care package?
Yes. They pack flat. Skip loose extras like glitter or confetti.
Is this only for college?
The letters are written for a friend moving away to study, but most of them work for any big move. Look at the full list above before you buy.
