Who I am
Na 20 jaar als politieagent in Connecticut, waarvan de laatste 11 jaar voornamelijk moordzaken, kan ik de wereld nu vanuit een ander perspectief bekijken. Mijn ervaringen hebben me geleerd om dingen anders te zien; ik focus me op details, maar kan tegelijkertijd de eenvoudige dingen en de serene rust van interessante landschappen, dieren in het wild en architectuur waarderen. De passie van mijn vrouw Rebecca voor vogels kijken is aanstekelijk en leidt ertoe dat we bijna dagelijks op zoek gaan naar bijzondere of interessante gevederde vrienden tijdens wandelingen met onze hond (Kota) in de bossen van Oost-Connecticut en Rhode Island. Mijn doel is om wat ik zie in de wereld om me heen vast te leggen op een manier die precies dat moment vastlegt dat mijn aandacht trok. Mijn focus ligt voornamelijk op de vele natuurgebieden en staatsbossen in mijn achtertuin in Oost-Connecticut en Rhode Island, met af en toe uitstapjes naar verre oorden zoals Cape May in New Jersey, Nevada, Alaska, Ierland, Spanje, Frankrijk, Zwitserland en IJsland. Ik hoop dat mijn foto's je inspireren om naar buiten te gaan, de natuur te verkennen en de lokale parken en bossen te steunen, terwijl je geniet van de landschappen en de dieren in je omgeving waarvan je misschien nooit wist dat ze er waren. After 20 years as a Connecticut State Trooper, with the last 11 years of my career spent processing, documenting and photographing primarily homicides, I am now able to see the world through a different lens. My experiences have given me the ability to see things a little differently; focusing on detail, while being able to appreciate simple things and the peaceful calm of interesting landscapes, wildlife, and architecture. My wife Rebecca's passion for Birding is contagious and has led to an almost daily search for unusual, or interesting feathered friends while hiking our dog (Kota) in the forests of Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. My goal is to express what I see in the world around me onto print in a way which captures that very moment which grabbed my attention. My focus is primarily the many Wildlife Management Areas and State Forests of my backyard of Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island, with occasional adventures to other far away lands to include Cape May New Jersey, Nevada, Alaska, Ireland, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Iceland among others. Hopefully, seeing some of my images will inspire you to go outside, explore, and support your local parks and forests while appreciating the landscapes and wildlife you may have never known were around you.
