My Upcycling Adventure
Me encanta coser desde pequeña, viendo a mi madre coser sin parar en nuestro estudio. Era una costurera excelente que nos lo transmitió a mi hermana y a mí. Fui adolescente en los 70 y esta era de la moda se me quedó grabada. Me encanta el tie-dye y todas las telas de los 70, así que renovar prendas de esa época es una pasión. Mi taller se centra en usar telas que la gente tira porque están pasadas de moda, desgastadas o simplemente ya no les gustan. Utilizo mi formación artística (educadora en museos de arte durante 25 años) para transformar estas prendas desgastadas en prendas modernas y originales. Los colores y las texturas me entusiasman, así que una prenda de segunda mano con manchas o agujeros no me molesta. Uso manteles vintage para delantales y camisas, suéteres de lana para marionetas infantiles, camisetas para faldas y suéteres voluminosos para cárdigans modernos. Todo mi trabajo está bien pensado y presto atención a la calidad. Considero mi trabajo sostenible y cero residuos. Espero que puedas ver todas las renovaciones divertidas y originales que he creado.
I've loved to sew since I was a little girl watching my mother sew endlessly in our den. She was a great seamstress who passed it on to my sister and myself. I was a teen in the 70's and this fashion era stuck with me. I love tie dye and all the fabrics from the 70's so refashion from this era is a passion. My shop focus is to use fabrics people throw out due to "out of fashion", worn out or just don't like anymore. I use my artistic background, (art Museum educator of 25 years), to refashion these worn out clothes into funky, new fashions. Colors and textures excite me so a piece of thrifted clothing with stains or holes doesn't bother me. I use vintage tablecloths for aprons and shirts, wool sweaters for childs puppets, t shirts for skirts and bulky sweaters for updated cardigans. All my work is well thought out and attention to quality. I consider my work as sustainable and zero waste. I hope you will check out all the fun, funky refashions I have created.
