One of a Kind…
For as long as I can remember, art and handmade has been my passion.
I guess it all started with 'Robo-Cat' - one of my earliest creations! ( Oh how I wish I had a picture! )
Based on the family movie classic, Robo-Cop, he was made whilst watching the film!
He really was awesome - vivid purple in colour, with his brass split pin posable legs and arms!
But, you'll just have to take my word for it!
Growing up, I was surrounded by the creative talents of many family members.
From photographers and graphic designers, to cake decorators and artists.
As a child, I spent a lot of time with family, making all sorts of art and crafts, especially around Christmas Time.
A prominent childhood memory will always be making gifts for friends and family.
My Dad was always, and still is to this day, making unique gifts and toys and homewares to bring joy to others. We both get so much joy from creating and giving meaningful & unique gifts. It’s a trait that we share, and one that I hold close to my heart.
My Dad (affectionately known as Moo-Pa!) is my number one inspiration and forever will be. He taught me the difference between HB and 6B, watercolours and acrylics and my heart is filled with memories of the nights I spent perched at his enormous drawing table, learning how to draw & paint and create magical things with my own little hands!
Over the last 10 years or so, I have fallen deep in LOVE with both polymer and natural clay. In fact - ANY clay! I am constantly evolving with it. The vast array of techniques is simply never ending and I just love the tactility of it!
When I was little, my Nana was the ultimate goddess of sugar-craft! She toured the country, entering and winning guild exhibitions. She was chair person of her local guild and she taught hundreds of eager students to do the same. I dabbled a little as a 'cygnet' with my Nana and Mam way back then, entering exhibitions alongside them both. Every Saturday would be spent at the guild together, learning new things and watching demonstrations. I believe this is where my affinity with clay comes from!
To this day, my Mam ( aka, Moo-Ma! ) still makes and decorates cakes like a boss!
I have what I call a very bold & 'scattered' passion when it comes to art & handmade - I love it all! From painting to illustrating and sculpting to assembling, if I have the opportunity to try something different or new, I will! Exploring is how we discover new and wonderful things!
So here I am, making and creating for the pure love of it, always in hope of helping others to scatter a little kindness as far as possible & for me to bring joy to others.
I really hope that you enjoy exploring my creative journey.
I'm really grateful you stopped by!
*Huge thank you to my dearest and bestest friend, for always believing in me and never giving up on me, even on my very worst days.
Every moment of my creative journey, every brush stroke and every clay squish, every day I wake up to do it again, is for G, the best half of me by far. Forever in my dreams.
