Absolutely delighted with my chawan. It reminds me of my country, Ireland, and is aptly called ‘moss by the wells.’ It came wrapped in a lovely box. Highly recommended.

This chawan is absolutely gorgeous. "Naruto", meaning "spiral" or "a whirlpool like pattern", is a fitting name for this piece. The way the darker portions swirl around the cup, giving off a feeling of dynamic movement, is stunning. Something I didn't realize before receiving the bowl is that the darker parts have a faint silvery glint to them, which only works to accentuate the beauty of the piece. Wonderful weight, and quality craftsmanship. The piece oozes love for the craft that the seller has. Shipping was fast, and the item was packaged very securely for its trip. I couldn't recommend this seller enough! Do yourself a favor and add their work to your collection of ceramics.

This Raku hanging planter is beautifully made and hanging in my loft. Thank you for giving me extra hemp rope for hanging from the ceiling. Shipping was steep but well worth it. It arrived swiftly from Italy to California and was very carefully packaged. Grazie mille!

Chawan & Yunomi Bowls for Tea Ceremony - Raku Ceramic Sculptures

Semprini Ceramics was born from my passion for the symbolic object of the Japanese tradition: the bowl used in the tea ceremony, the Chawan above all else, and also its younger sister Yunomi, for the daily use of tea.

Creating these iconic objects freehand is a source of extreme pleasure and satisfaction for me, scrupulously following the rules handed down by generations of Japanese potters.

At my ceramics laboratory in Santarcangelo di Romagna (Italy) I also create sculptures in Raku Ceramics, which arise from a need for expression and communication of a profound, always new reasoning and research.
