Vardagliga saker i våra liv ska få oss att må bra. Vi gillar att skapa heminredning och plyschleksaker som skapar en atmosfär där människorna i det här rummet inte tar sig själva på för stort allvar och är redo att ha lite kul.

I åratal sydde och virkade min mamma och jag åt våra vänner och familj, medan de hela tiden sa: "Du är så begåvad, du borde sälja din ___." Nåväl, vi var äntligen villiga att låta vår hobby bli mer seriös och starta vårt eget företag. Men vi ville inte att allt det roliga skulle försvinna från vårt skapande medan vi tog hand om affärssidan av att skapa för andra.

Vi behöll det roliga genom att skapa saker med underbara texturer som får oss att skratta. När vi började tillverka saker till butiken var det mestadels hushållsartiklar som var funktionella men med speciella detaljer. Men ju mer jag gör, desto mer verkar jag bli influerad av min unga tonårsdotter. Hon driver mig mer mot trenderna och mot hennes favoritstil; Kawaii.

Allt eftersom jag fortsätter att sy och virka är jag säker på att mina barns inflytande kommer att fortsätta synas. Ärligt talat finns det många saker där ute för de små och jag är glad att mina barn pushar mig att göra saker som är bra för de äldre barnen också! (Även om jag aldrig skulle ha gissat att frukt med ansikten skulle vara en "tonårsgrej".)

Den andra medlemmen i teamet, min mamma Mary, är otroligt begåvad inom fiberkonst men efter år av praktiskt arbete är hon redo att sy för skojs skull. Några av plaggen här är hennes verk och hon ger variation till Without Directions-stilen. Och som hennes dotter och medarbetare älskar jag att dela detta utrymme med henne.

Everyday items in our lives should make us feel good. We like to create home décor and plush toys that create the atmosphere that the people in this space do not take themselves too seriously and are ready to have some fun.

For years my mom and I sewed and crocheted for our friends and family all the while, they would say, "you are so talented, you should sell your ___." Well, we were finally willing to allow our hobby to get more serious and start our own business. But, we did not want all the fun to be sucked out of our creating as we dealt with the business side of creating for others.

We kept the fun in by making things with wonderful textures and that make us laugh. When we first started making things for the store, they were mostly home goods that were functional but with special touches. But, the more I make, the more I seem to be influenced by my young teen daughter. She pushes me more toward the trends and towards her favorite style; Kawaii.

As I keep on sewing and crocheting, I am sure the influence of my children will continue to show through. Frankly, there are a lot of things out there for the little ones and I am glad that my kids are pushing me to make things that are good for the older kids too! (Though I would never have guessed that fruit with faces would be a 'teen thing'.)

The other member of the team, my mother Mary, is incredibly talented in the fiber arts but after years of being practical, she is ready to sew for fun. Some of the items here are her work and she adds variety to the Without Directions style. And as her daughter and fellow maker, I love sharing this space with her.
