Il viaggio di b.e.happe è iniziato mentre mi stavo allontanando dalla mia carriera di dottore in terapia fisica per stare a casa con i miei tre figli. Volevo tenere le mani forti e mi sono sfidato a imparare qualcosa di nuovo per questa nuova stagione della vita.
Ho donato cappelli al Blank Children's Hospital di Des Moines, Iowa, mentre perfezionavo l'abilità.
Avendo difficoltà con il passaggio da una professione medica a rimanere a casa mamma, stavo cercando un cappello che potessi indossare quando facevo commissioni, scendevo a scuola e mi sentivo semplicemente messa insieme come una mamma di 3 kiddos sotto i 4 anni. Ho deciso di disegnare il mio cappello dopo non essere stato in grado di trovare quello che volevo, e ho lavorato all'uncinetto quello che ora è il b.e.happe Simple Slouch.
Dopo che amici e parenti mi hanno esortato a iniziare a vendere i miei articoli, b.e.happe è nato nel 2016. Per i primi due anni abbiamo avuto un "Compra un cappello, restituiscilo" all'ospedale pediatrico Blank con ogni vendita.
Nel 2018, dopo un lungo soggiorno PICU con il mio bambino di mezzo a Blank, la nostra famiglia si è resa conto che c'è un bisogno molto maggiore di restituire. Siamo stati benedetti da Child Life Services e abbiamo apprezzato tutto ciò che hanno fatto sia per mio figlio che per i suoi fratelli per farli sentire al sicuro durante il soggiorno. È stato in quel momento che siamo passati ai "cappelli che restituiscono", utilizzando una parte dei proventi della vendita per donare articoli della lista dei desideri per i servizi di vita per l'infanzia.
Nel 2019 abbiamo fatto un grande cambiamento e venduto la nostra casa e quasi tutti i nostri effetti personali, per viaggiare per il paese a tempo pieno in un camper per un'avventura di una vita e per coltivare b.e.happe.
Abbiamo esaminato più a fondo ciò che b.e.happe significava per noi ... è più di una semplice sigla e di un marchio che restituisce. b.e.happe è una struttura mentale per non smettere mai di sognare, uno stile di vita, la nostra speranza e direzione mentre facevamo un salto di fede come famiglia di 5 persone e viaggiavamo per il paese.
Mentre la nostra famiglia trascorre del tempo insieme e crea una vita di ricordi, corriamo b.e.happe dalla nostra quinta ruota di 42 piedi. Restituiamo agli ospedali pediatrici locali mentre viaggiamo per il paese donando ai loro articoli "Wish List", il tutto insegnando ai nostri figli che possono fare qualsiasi cosa a cui mettono la loro mente e di non smettere mai di sognare.
The journey of b.e.happe started as I was stepping away from my career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy to stay home with my three kids. I wanted keep my hands strong and challenged myself to learn something new for this new season of life.
I donated hats to Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa as I perfected the skill.
Having difficulty with the transition from a medical profession to stay at home mom, I was searching for a hat that I could wear when running errands, dropping off at school and to simply feel put together as a mom of 3 kiddos under 4 years. I decided to design my own hat after not being able to find what I wanted, and crocheted what is now the b.e.happe Simple Slouch.
After friends and family urged me to start to sell my items, b.e.happe was born in 2016. For the first two years we had a "Buy one hat, Give one back" to Blank Children's hospital with each sale.
In 2018, after a lengthy PICU stay with my middle kiddo at Blank our family realized that there is a much greater need for giving back. We were blessed by Child Life Services and appreciated everything that they did for both my son and his siblings to make them feel safe during the stay. It was at that time that we transitioned to 'hats that give back,' using a portion of sale proceeds to donate wish list items for child life services.
In 2019 we made a major change, and sold our house and almost all of our belongings, to travel the country full time in an RV for an adventure of a lifetime and to grow b.e.happe.
We looked deeper into what b.e.happe meant to us...it is more than just my initials and a brand that gives back. b.e.happe is a mind frame to never stop dreaming, a lifestyle, our hope and direction as we took a leap of faith as a family of 5 and travel the country.
As our family spends time together and creates a lifetime of memories we run b.e.happe from our 42 foot fifth wheel. We give back to the local children's hospitals as we travel the country by donating to their "Wish List" items, all while teaching our children that they can do anything they put their minds to and to never stop dreaming.
