Il bubble tea è entrato per la prima volta nelle nostre vite più di un decennio fa, quando eravamo giovani adolescenti a New York e avevamo un cambio di riserva dai nostri lavori estivi per concederci questa deliziosa bevanda taiwanese. Non possiamo mettere il dito su quello che era: le bollicine gommose, il sapore fragrante del tè o il latte / crema che servivano, ma siamo rimasti agganciati dal primo sorso!

Nel corso degli anni, la tendenza del bubble tea si è calmata, ma ora è tornata in piena forza, spazzando il paese dalla costa orientale alla costa occidentale e diffondendosi persino a livello globale mentre la storia d'amore del Giappone con il boba è aumentata nel 2019. Abbiamo riscoperto il nostro amore per il bubble tea (e Taiwan!) nell'estate del 2019 e abbiamo riempito le nostre storie di Instagram con storie settimanali, a volte quotidiane, di bubble tea. Tuttavia, per quanto fosse divertente sorseggiare le nostre bevande attraverso una tradizionale tazza da tè a bolle, abbiamo iniziato a sentirci piuttosto male per la nostra dipendenza da boba a causa dei rifiuti di plastica che stiamo aiutando (e pagando!) a generare. Abbiamo deciso che era meglio per l'ambiente e il nostro portafoglio ridurre il pagamento del bubble tea e farlo a casa da soli. Dopo molte iterazioni e un sacco di tentativi ed errori, abbiamo creato le ricette personalizzabili perfette e ora puoi creare la tua tazza perfetta anche a casa!

Boba non ha bisogno di essere servito in un bicchiere di plastica, con un coperchio di plastica e una cannuccia di plastica. Per favore, non farti ingannare nel pensare che non stai contribuendo al problema perché ricicli. Il riciclaggio è un'attività che funziona solo quando c'è domanda di mercato. Bubble tea first came into our lives more than a decade ago, when we were young teenagers in NYC and had spare change from our summer jobs to splurge on this delicious Taiwanese drink. We can't place our finger on what it was- the chewy bubbles, fragrant tea flavor, or the milk/creamer that they served, but we were hooked from the first sip!

Over the years, the bubble tea trend quieted down but it is now back in full force, sweeping the country from East Coast to West Coast, and even spreading globally as Japan's love affair with boba surged in 2019. We rediscovered our love of bubble tea (and Taiwan!) ourselves in the summer of 2019, and filled our Instagram stories with weekly, sometimes daily bubble tea stories. However, as fun as it was to sip our drinks through a traditional bubble tea cup, we started feeling pretty bad about our boba addiction because of the plastic waste we are helping (and paying!) to generate. We decided that it was better for the environment and our wallet to cut down on paying for bubble tea and just make it at home ourselves. After many iterations and lots of trial and error, we have crafted the perfect customizable recipes, and you can now make your perfect cup at home as well!

Boba does not need to be served in a plastic cup, with a plastic lid, and a plastic straw. Please don't be fooled into thinking that you're not contributing to the problem because you recycle.
