WHERE DOES HANDMADE COME FROM?
The handmade boat sets sail when Lucilla and Manuela, my mother and my aunt, as young mothers decide to open a shop of curtains and hand-painted fabrics, right by the sea. Hence the boat: Lucilla's L is the sail and Manuela's M the hull.
Although their paths have led them after a few years to undertake different working careers, they have always remained accomplices in the realization of many projects, which have gone from cooking to tailoring, from costume jewelry to ceramics, and much more.
So they managed to pass on their passion for craftsmanship and DIY to me and that's how I decided to add my little piece, a bezel: Cecilia's C.

WHO AM I
My name is Cecilia and I am half architect and half engineer. I like to scribble new ideas, but I also like to feel the roughness of the paper under my fingers. I like to mix new colors, but I also like to feel the watercolor getting stuck in my hands. I like to combine different pieces and materials, but I also like the smell of glue that manages to hold them together.
I like cartoons because you're never too old to be a little bit of a kid.
I like to keep the traditions and that's why I try to carry on those handed down by my family: the singing by my paternal grandparents, the cooking and the sea by my maternal grandparents, the photography by my parents, and the handmade by my mother and my aunt. But I also like to grow traditions and that's why I try to add my personal touch.

DA DOVE NASCE FATTO A MANO?
La barchetta di fatto a mano salpa quando Lucilla e Manuela, mia mamma e mia zia, da giovani mamme decidono di aprire un negozio di tendaggi e tessuti dipinti a mano, proprio in riva al mare. Da qui nasce la barchetta: la L di Lucilla è la vela e la M di Manuela lo scafo.
Nonostante le loro strade le abbiano portate dopo qualche anno ad intraprendere diverse carriere lavorative, sono sempre rimaste complici nella realizzazione di tanti progetti, che si sono spinti dalla cucina alla sartoria, dalla bigiotteria alla ceramica, e molto altro.
Così sono riuscite a tramandare la loro passione per l'artigianale ed il fai da te proprio a me ed è così che ho deciso di aggiungere il mio pezzettino, una lunetta: la C di Cecilia.

CHI SONO
Mi chiamo Cecilia e sono metà architetto e metà ingegnere. Mi piace scribacchiare nuove idee, ma mi piace anche sentire la ruvidità della carta sotto le dita. Mi piace mescolare nuovi colori, ma mi piace anche sentire l'acquerello che si impiastriccia nelle mani. Mi piace accostare pezzi e materiali diversi, ma mi piace anche l'odore della colla che riesce a tenerli insieme.
Mi piacciono i cartoni animati perché non si è mai troppo grandi per essere ancora un pò bambini.
Mi piace mantenere le tradizioni ed è per questo che provo a portare avanti quelle tramandate dalla mia famiglia: il canto dai miei nonni paterni, la cucina ed il mare dai miei nonni materni, la fotografia dai miei genitori, ed il fatto a mano da mia mamma e mia zia. Ma mi piace anche far crescere le tradizioni ed è per questo che provo ad aggiungere il mio tocco personale.
