Who is Pompom?
My name is Sara, I'm a psychologist and although I'm passionate about my profession I have always been interested in arts and crafts.
Ever since I can remember I engaged myself in some creative projects: taking care of sourdough starter and panification, wooden artworks, paper crafts, photography, pottery, painting, yarns and the greatest of my passion: textile art!
Together with my husband, who loves to get his hands dirty like I do, we purchased a house in Florence countryside. Everyday contact with nature awakened in me the need to use my hands more than my head, and since 2015 I'm mainly busy studying and manufacturing women knitwear, yarn accessories and textile works for expositions and for sale.
What is pompom?
In my creative and productive process the use of natural products is hold in high reguard, and for this reason all the materials I use are of the highest quality and of course organic.
My wool is dyed with roots and flowers I pick during my walks in the woods.
Natural life style and eco-sustainability are vital goals to me! I constantly redesign traditional knitting techniques to lend my works originality and a more up to date feeling.
Pompom is the name I chose for this entirely handmade project, welcome and I hope you will love it as I do!

Since I remembered, I have always done nothing but embark on some creative project: the care of natural yeasts and baking, work with wood, paper, photography, ceramics, painting, yarns and textile art (one of my greatest passions and manias!) ...
I graduated in psychology and took the diploma of psychotherapist with excellent grades, I began to practice the profession with enthusiasm, but without ever forgetting my interest in the world of art and manual work.
Together with my husband, who like me loves to get his hands dirty, I bought a house in the countryside of Florence. The contact with nature has awakened strongly in me the desire to engage in creative work. I have definitely supported this need to use the hands more than the head, and for two years now I have been mainly engaged in the study and production of women's knitwear, yarn accessories and textile works for exhibitions and sales. In my creative and production process I cannot miss the attention to the materials, all of excellent quality and natural. The wool used in the creation of my products is dyed with natural materials (especially roots and flowers) that I collect during my walks in the countryside.
Sustainability and natural life style are essential goals for me!
I constantly revisit the traditional knitting and weaving techniques, to give originality and contemporaneity to my products.
Pompom is the name I gave to this handmade project.

Da sempre, da quando ho ricordo, non ho fatto altro che imbarcarmi in qualche progetto creativo: la cura dei lieviti naturali e la panificazione, lavori con il legno, con la carta, la fotografia, la ceramica, la pittura, i filati e l'arte tessile (una delle mie più grandi passioni e manie!)...
Mi sono laureata in psicologia e ho preso il diploma di psicoterapeuta con ottimi voti, ho cominciato a praticare la professione con entusiasmo, ma senza mai dimenticare il mio interesse per il mondo dell'arte e del lavoro manuale.
Insieme a mio marito, che come me adora sporcarsi le mani, ho acquistato una casa nella campagna di Firenze. Il contatto con la natura ha risvegliato forte in me la voglia di impegnarmi in lavori creativi. Ho decisamente assecondato questo bisogno di impiegare le mani più che la testa, e da due anni a questa parte sono impegnata prevalentemente nello studio e nella produzione di maglieria donna, accessori in filato e lavori tessili destinati alle esposizioni e alla vendita. Nel mio processo creativo e produttivo non può mancare l'attenzione per i materiali, tutti di ottima qualità e naturali. La lana usata nella creazione dei miei prodotti è tinta con i materiali naturali (soprattutto radici e fiori) che raccolgo durante le mie passeggiate nella campagna.
La sostenibilità e il natural life style sono obiettivi irrinunciabili per me!
Rivisito costantemente le tradizionali tecniche di lavoro a maglia e intreccio, per conferire originalità e contemporaneità ai miei prodotti.
Pompom è il nome che ho dato a questo progetto handmade.
