Learn how to create delicate designs in polymer clay using metal leaf, alcohol inks, and metal filigree. The use of epoxy resin is optional.
The possibilities of this technique and the variety of jewelry pieces that can be made with it are demonstrated using three different projects.
Project 1 (Pendant) shows the basic idea of creating an imprinted design in polymer clay with metal leaf and filigree. This design may be covered with two-part epoxy resin or left as it is.
Project 2 (Earrings) shows how to use alcohol inks for this polymer clay technique and how to create a color gradient in the background.
Project 3 (Bracelet) is the most advanced of these three projects, and it shows how to create the metal leaf and filigree pattern on a bracelet form.
This tutorial includes 20 pages of step-by-step instructions and more than 50 detailed pictures.
Some previous experience with polymer clay and/or resin is helpful, but not necessary. Skill level: beginner to advanced.
For your convenience, I am including an additional FREE file: instructions for using EnviroTex Lite or ICE resin specifically for small projects.
The resin instructions explain how to measure and mix small quantities of EnviroTex Lite or ICE resins to avoid unnecessary waste and how to apply the resin in the easiest way. There is also a troubleshooting section explaining how to avoid or fix possible mistakes while working with these resins.
Both pdf files will be available to you immediately upon payment through the instant download feature in your account. Etsy will send you an automatic email with a link to your files. These files are also accessible from your Purchases page.
