This latest version of the Faux Cloisonne tutorial is the result of many years of my work. It is not about a particular design or a project – it is about a distinctive and original technique, about its possibilities and limitations. I have included all the tips and tricks I could think of to make your use of this technique fun and easy, allowing you to concentrate on your creativity and enjoy making your own designs. There are more than a hundred pictures in this tutorial, and 42 pages of instructions.
Section 1: The main principles of this technique demonstrated on a simple project, a Faux Cloisonne heart pendant.
Section 2: More information about mica powders – how to work with them specifically in Faux Cloisonne technique, how to avoid and correct possible errors, and how to expand your color palette.
Section 3: A detailed description of my techniques for working with two-part epoxy resins in small quantities, all the tricks to make it work, and lots of tips for avoiding and correcting possible errors.
Section 4: Step-by-step instructions for one more practice project, this time with metal leaf and alcohol inks.
Section 5: Additional explanations for using alcohol inks specifically for Faux Cloisonne technique.
Section 6: How to create Faux Cloisonne designs with human faces.
At the very end of this tutorial, I added two pages with more sketches of heart pendants and organic-style brooches to give you a few more ideas to get started.
Detailed instructions for purchasing all materials needed for completion of this project (including the recommended brands and the best places to buy these materials) are provided as well.
