Sweet little capelet features an assortment of tatters and tendrils torn from t shirts and stitched into a textural art piece. Fragments of net and lace are scattered about with pieces of vintage doily and embroidery salvaged from a salwar kameez. A wonderous little shoulder cover up that closes with leather and buckle. Born out of a self-imposed challenge to use some of the most oft-discarded and unassuming items of clothing, pieces in this collection celebrate the humble jean and t-shirt.

My designs are created from reclaimed materials and are usually married together with abundant layers of visible stitching, artful tattering and asymmetry to enhance the personality of each piece. Edges are often left raw to gently fray and soften over time. Each piece has been reconstructed from reclaimed materials into a unique, one of a kind creation made spontaneously by hand without patterns.

I now have 8 pieces from Lorraine and each one of them is beyond gorgeous! I've had 4 of them for more than 5 years now, 3 of those I've worn numerous times over the years, and I'm pleased to say that they've lasted very well. And I always get lots of compliments when I wear them out! Love the customer service as well, Lorraine is always prompt in her communication, and because I'm a local shopper, she even lets me try the dresses on to make sure they fit before I buy them! Another bonus: I LOVE the idea of upcycling, and that Lorraine gives new life to clothing that might otherwise have ended up in a landfill. Highly recommend!
