Ask about the possibility of rush delivery. As an antique collector and seller, we searched for years for an antique orrery that we could afford. Even the plastic models that we used in high school are well outside of our price range. Try and find a Trippensee model made in the past few decades and you'll see what I mean. We were looking for a big showy antique solar system model / planetarium that would enhance our home and instead we compromised. This is a hard plastic model, which has some weight to it and which has been artistically enhanced to look just like burled wood. The armatures are metal. This model includes brass fittings and brass legs.

This is approximately 9.5" tall and extends about 18" out from the center.

We do not consider this a toy for anyone under the age of 12 as it has been carefully and painstakingly artist enhanced. But with guidance, it's a great way to learn about the solar system and it looks incredible in a room. We keep ours in the den. It would be perfect for a library or a man cave.

This model includes a blue planetarium cap for astronomy use.

No two of our solar systems are the same but they are all wonderful. These run on 4 AA batteries (included.) What we like about this version is that there are two motors which run independently of one another - the smaller planets rotate at a faster speed than the larger planets. The sun does light up. It is much quieter than other models we've seen.

This is one of the most overpriced items I have ever purchased. If I was the owner of this business I would be embarrassed to sell something like this. It clearly states on the bottom of the item that it is made in China although the owner gives the false impression that these are built individually and no two are the same. Having said that I will add that I certainly understand the policy of no returns as I am positive that there would be many if returns were possible. The owner should disclose the fact that is a plastic model that could have been glued together by any 10 year old. To add insult to injury one of the feet was broken and instead of fixing it they just threw in an extra foot for me to deal with. I never review anything and wish things had worked out better. My hope is that positive change can happen.

We take great care to describe our orrerys carefully and augment the descriptions with several close up photos. We describe them as students models that have been reworked from top to bottom eventually resulting in transformed models which look like antique wood and brass. No two models are exactly the same but we do not produce these by hand - they start out life in a factory as hand producing a electronic model such as this simply wouldn't be practical or possible. The vast majority of our buyers are very pleased with their purchases and many return to buy additional items. I genuinely wish we could have met your expectations but individual hand production of a model such as this, rather than several hours of hand painting and faux finishing is a distinction that we did not anticipate causing confusion.
