Hello! My name is Megan. I'm a May 2013 graduate of Arizona State University where I majored in Fiber Arts. During Summer 2012, I interned at The Grove at Juniper and 30th in San Diego, helping in the yarn department. I also worked at Knit Happens in Scottsdale for a bit during Fall 2012.
I have been crafting since I was very little. My maternal grandmother knit, and she taught me and my cousin when we were very little (I would like to say around 6 or 7 years of age). My aunt crocheted and taught us when we were a little older (9 or 10?). My paternal grandmother taught me how to cross stitch (when I was 10 or 11. I picked up other needle point projects myself in 2009). My mother taught me how to sew when I was 12. Most of my experience have been through creating costumes for myself for Halloween, playing 'pretend' with my cousin, and making things for friends and family. In October 2010, I started taking a 4 class Spinning class at the Fiber Factory in Mesa, AZ. I purchased my Lendrum Double Treadle Spinning Wheel at the end of 2011.
I hope to someday turn my crafting and art skills into a business. My dream goal is to have a studio in San Diego by the ocean where I can teach small workshops for adults about fibers, as well as work on art for commissions and for myself to show.
Other crafts I hope to pick up: Tatting, Russian Punchneedle Embroidery, Nalbinding.
