Hi! I’m a veterinarian living in southern Ohio. In my downtime, I enjoy creating beautiful things to allow the artistic side of my brain a chance to express itself. I find beauty in the raw and unexpected, in asymmetry, in mixing colors, textures and metals, and defying conventions. My favorite materials are rough, colorful gemstones, lampwork glass, wire, and found items that I gather at the beach, in the woods, a parking lot, or the various little shops that I frequent for strange and unusual items. There’s something enchanting in the process of starting with bits and ending with a finished piece, like the alchemists of old. I am continually expanding my techniques and designs to best create the ethereal ideas that flit through my thoughts as I drift to sleep at nights.
For every sale, I donate a portion of the proceeds to organizations that work to better the lives of women and their families in Niger. It's a blessing to be able to help others by doing something I love!
In Niger, an arid land on the edge of the Sahara, the life expectancy for women is 52 years. In rural areas, the average woman gives birth to eight children. Women in Guidan Roumji, Niger, live in extreme poverty. Beekeeping is an activity that brings a significant income to a rural farming family, making a difference that changes their future. With an additional source of income, mothers can feed their children and send their girls to school. ADRA will provide beekeeping kits and training to produce honey and will teach the women how to manage their income. Organized into cooperatives, women will share a portion of their income and reinvest in other women in their community.

I just started a blog - http://tapirseeksrocks.blogspot.com/ It details thoughts about veterinary school, creating jewelry, and life in general.
