A Story of Light, Resilience, and Seeing Beyond Sight
My life did not begin with an easy hand. I grew up in the shadow of a progressive condition called Stargardt disease—a rare genetic eye disorder with no known cure. Over time, my central vision has steadily faded, turning the world into soft shadows, silhouettes, and blurred contours. In a world built for full sight, living as a visually impaired individual in challenging economic conditions often feels like starting life miles behind everyone else.
I live alone with my cats, who provide quiet companionship and warmth. I don't have a partner or children, and surviving on a meager budget without a traditional job is a constant, quiet struggle. Every single day is a lesson in navigating the world by trial and error—falling down, learning the terrain, and getting back up again. But within this struggle lies the true heartbeat of my art.
Photography and visual craft run deep in my DNA. My father was one of the early pioneers of photography in Turkey. Growing up alongside him in the studio, I learned to speak the language of light, contrast, and emotion long before my eyes began to dim. When my vision deteriorated to the point where traditional photography was no longer possible, I felt as though my world had turned pitch black.
Then I realized: I may be losing my sight, but I haven't lost my vision.
The designs you see across my shop—from wearable art like T-shirts and hoodies to everyday essentials like mugs and accessories—are created through my unique lens. Because I experience light, color, and shapes differently now, I bring a rare intensity and vibrant depth to every craft. What my eyes miss in detail, my soul captures in emotion and color. Every item here is a piece of my independence—a brave step toward standing on my own two feet, honoring my family's legacy, and sharing the beauty of how I see the world before the light fades further.
When you purchase from my shop, you aren't just buying a item or a piece of decor. You are becoming a part of my journey. You are helping an independent artist stand strong, support their humble home, and prove that art doesn't depend on perfect vision—it comes straight from the heart.
Thank you for bringing my light into your home.
