Mia madre, che era una sarta straordinaria, è morta a 59 anni. Quando mio marito era ancora in vita (lo persi 3 anni dopo, a 40 anni), lui e il mio dolce padre portavano a poco a poco i materiali da cucito di mia madre. Entrambi lavorarono alla nostra stanza in più, la dotarono di un tavolo da cucito lungo fino a una parete, un tavolo da taglio gigante e un bellissimo scaffale di metallo per un po' di stoffa. Chi avrebbe mai pensato che questi due uomini grandi e robusti avrebbero avuto uno spazio così premuroso nei loro cuori per ispirarmi a cucire.
Tutti e tre (marito, papà e io) lavoravamo per un supermercato in Florida (il migliore al mondo, Publix). Ho visto l'uso e l'abuso delle buste di plastica. Non da parte dell'azienda, ma da parte dei clienti. Questo mi ha dato l'idea di iniziare a realizzare le mie tote bag reversibili, lavabili e super resistenti. Ora quando mi siedo nella mia bellissima stanza da cucito, penso a tutti e tre, mamma, papà e mio marito. Stanno tutti guardando giù dal Paradiso e dicono... "Non hai abbastanza stoffa ormai????" 😊♥️
My Mom, who was an amazing seamstress, passed away at 59. When my husband was alive (lost him 3 years later at age 40) he and my sweet Father would bring over Mom’s sewing supplies, little by little. They both worked on our extra room, fitted it with a wall length sewing counter, a giant cutting table and a beautiful metal rack for some fabric. Who knew these two big burly men would have such a thoughtful space in their hearts to inspire me to sew.
All three of us (Husband, Dad and I) worked for a Florida based grocery store (the best in the world - Publix). I saw the use and abuse of plastic bags. Not by the company, but by the customers. That gave me the idea to start making my reversible, washable and super sturdy tote bags. Now when I sit in my beautiful sewing room, I think of all three, Mom, Dad and my Husband. They are all looking down from Heaven saying…. “Don’t you have enough fabric by now????” 😊♥️
