Lammytail Designs - Freddy's Story
My name is Rebecca, owner and creator of Lammytail Designs, and this is my son Freddy.
Freddy was diagnosed with a heart condition called D-Transposition of the Great Arteries. As first time parents, it was shocking to hear that our baby would require open heart surgery. Freddy was only thirteen days old on the date of his operation and afterwards very susceptible to germs. During our daily visits to the hospital, health was on the forefront of our minds. Talking to hospital staff made us very wary of public surfaces. Not wanting to spread contaminates to my newborn son, I set out to create a protective band to cover one of my most commonly encountered surfaces, the grocery cart handle. It put my mind at ease knowing I could safely pick him up with less fear of transferring germs to him. As Freddy grew and began teething, the band served dual purpose as a barrier for chewing on cart handles. Now that Freddy is older, my family and I still use the band as a convenient way to protect everyone from germs that others leave behind.
