During the pandemic it became clear to me how profoundly our external spaces impact our internal experience. When many of us started returning to in-person sessions, I heard from multiple colleagues about how different they felt in their offices - how much more aware they were of their surroundings and their shared space with their clients. Our time away from our offices brought new meaning and significance to them. However, as busy clinicians, we rarely have time, energy, or even interest in decorating our counseling offices. This is a missed opportunity for setting a calm, visually pleasing, welcoming environment.
