This is a lovely aquamarine blue silk taffeta colonial gown with matching built in petticoat shown over a pannier. Extant period gowns in this color seem somewhat rare but certainly show up in paintings of the period. The neckline and petticoat are adorned with self fabric ruffles. Made of lightweight pure silk taffeta, it has that mavelous sheen, rustle and body to compliment the pleated design of the skirt with it's many pleats falling toward the back center point. The sleeves are adorned in removeable 6" lace ruffles below the gathered flounces and the photos show it with and without the ruffles. The fall front petticoat is symmetrically pleated and has ties for attaching inside the dress. The bodice and sleeves are lined in cotton and the dress is shown on a 5'8" dress form pinned in front, although a hook & eye closure option is available. The skirt length is 43", petticoat 42" and bodice bust 42"-44", waist 36"-38", upper arms are 16" and elbow cuff is 12". It is being shown over a 37.5" busted form. An opulent, yet simple gown in the Anglo/American tradition.
