On hold. Please do not purchase unless you are K. A very rare glass bead Miriam Haskell Brooch, Lucite backed, WWII era, 1940's. Hand Beaded and constructed, in red, green and blue. A statement piece.

It has been kept in archival storage for years, away from moisture, light, other jewelry, and has never been worn.

Well made as most Haskell pieces are, with amazing colorful glass beads in the signature Haskell colors of red, green, and blue.

We are attributing it to Haskell based on similarity to other pieces, design style. quality and research

Lucite has yellowed a bit, which is typical.

The backs were made of Lucite during World War II, because metals were needed for the war effort. So, pieces that were in production had to be made without the typical metal back that Haskell usually used. This is why some of the piece is metal, and some is plastic.

An identical piece can be found on a website of a world renowned jewelry researcher. It is thought that this piece is a very rare Haskell prototype piece, but it has never been proven. It IS Haskell, and it is lovely.

In mint condition, except for yellowing of Lucite, beautiful. About 2 3/4" inches in diameter, c-clasp pin closure..

These vintage pieces in this condition are very, very rare.
