Mustard and Yellow Shibori! You get both of these bobby pins!!

Shibori is a technique of dyeing where sections are bound off (think tie dyeing!). These sections that are tied off do not take the dye while the rest of the fabric does!

This 100% silk shibori was taken from a kimono. These have great texture too.The silk shibori is paired with a mustard yellow chirimen fabric.

Each flower has a pearl accent.

Each petal is folded individually and attached to a base using rice starch. The backs are 100% wool felt in matching colors.

Each flower is about 1.5 inches in diameter and on a 1.75 inch black bobby pin.

What Is Tsumami Kanzashi??

Tsumami means to pinch. Kanzashi means hair stick. What this means is that each petal is made out of a square piece of silk that is pinched together with tweezers to make the shape. Each petal is then arranged together with other petals to make the flower form. It is like unit origami only with hand dyed silk, vintage silks, and kimono silks!

Today in Japan
Even Maiko - apprentice Geisha - wear large elaborate kanzashi for each season!
