By now so often said that it's practically cliche, I shall say it anyway because it is so true, the sea calls to me. In particular the spot on the Northwest coast where the mountains meet the ocean. I could sit there for hours. Silent. The wind blowing my hair, the sun on my face, the salty ocean air on my lips. The rugged coastline, a mountain forest. For me this is pure beauty.

Naturally all imagery associated with the ocean appeals to me. And I have many favorites. Right there at the top is the seahorse. We visited a fabulous exhibit at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium last summer. It was called the Secret Lives of Seahorses. I could have stayed in there all day, but my family wasn't quite as enthralled with these beauties as I was. They can be quite small you know. And look so fragile. I am returning to Monterrey, CA this summer and I hope my seahorses are still there. In anticipation of seeing them, I have made this seahorse. Surrounded by sterling silver bubbles and a gorgeous oval of kyanite to represent the sea. Topped with a crowned fresh water pearl. There are also two very beautiful fresh water pearls on the chain as well.

Handmade by me in my studio here in sunny Texas, while dreaming of the Ocean. All metal is sterling silver which has been heavily oxidized and hand brushed. The pendant measures 1 7/8" or 4.5 cm long and 7/8" or 2.2 cm wide. The chain closes at 18" and 20" and closes with a handmade clasp.

The companion piece to this necklace can be found here:

Balance of $70 due by October 16th.
