This type of vintage covered bowl, or chawan mushi, usually contains a light, savory custard dish flavored with tidbits of vegetables and meat, but it could also serve sweet custards or puddings for dessert.

A modified scroll and floral - peony or chrysanthemum - pattern was transfer applied then hand embellished in colors of cinnabar, gold and deep yellow ochre. The manufacturer's or artist's mark is visible on the bottom. The bowl and cover are in good vintage condition with little wear visible, and just one small chip on the cover, visible in photos two and three. The prop chopsticks are not included with the chawan mushi bowl and cover.

Measurements:
With cover: 4.125"/10.4775 cm tall
3.875"/9.8425 cm at widest point

We pack items carefully for shipping with partially recycled materials. In the US, the covered bowl will travel to you via USPS Priority Flat Rate mail; elsewhere it will go by International First Class with insurance.
