The name of the flower/science book was "Look at a Flower" so I did! Again!

The botanical book, from 1963, was chock full of the charming two-color illustrations that, to me, so typify that era. All delicately shaded gray and yellow ochre, the detail and simplicity is calm and inviting.

Well, to a gardener it is! We know real gardens are full of all kinds of chaos!

This palm-sized mini journal has hardcovers wrapped in a gray velvet paper. I chose to stitch a Coptic binding so this little book would lay open flat to be easy to write in.

Inside, you'll find five signatures of writing paper, each wrapped in a cardstock sheet that matches the lively floral print on the inside covers.

Altogether, you get 50 pages, which seems like a lot for a book this small! Not to worry, it's all held together with sturdy pale yellow waxed linen thread.

On the front you'll see a honey bee resting on a blossom and on the back a Bitterroot flower with many petals. See what I mean about charming?

Feel free to take this book along on your next trip to the garden center. Make a list of plants to shop for. Write down the care instructions for delicate blooms. Add your own sketches of leaves and blossoms. Or give it to a garden loving friend with some pithy nature quotes inside.

This mini flower garden journal measures 2 3/4" tall x 3 1/2" wide x 3/4" deep.
