Gorgeous Asian Art Deco Hair Combs

I got some kanzashi combs at a clients request.
These were sent from England from Elronds beautiful shop. :)

The japanese were masters in the Kanzashi tradition and early kanzashi hair ornaments were often a single sticks or thin rods thought to ward off evil and were worn in the hair... also it is believed these were a useful defence in an emergency!

Bridal Kanzashi Combs were often made in gold and using precious metal and stones. those in the art deco era were made from tortoiseshell, or carved bone , which i believe these to be,
and then Lacquered. Seasons of the year often dictated the colors worn.

This pair are a deep forest green reminiscent of the leaves of spring.
They are in good vintage condition with a few minor scratches.
Measure 5 1/2 inches long in total with the prongs measuring 3 1/2 inches. the decoration is 2 inches wide.

Beautiful pair, destined as a luxurious formal touch when you next wear a french roll "Up Do",
for an exotic asian touch with geisha elegance. <3
