Reduced - Mid Century Modern Double Wall Sconce with Fiberglass Cone Lampshades and Wood Finials

Streamlined design straight from the atomic era. This wonderful brass light fixture was made by Starlight sometime during the 1950s or 1960s. The shades are cone shaped and made from fiberglass. Love that texture! The wood finials add a Danish Modern look!

This double sconce fixture is made to be wired to a wall. With the 3-way switch, you'll have the choice of using only one or both of the lights. Another cool feature is the way the individual lights can be tilted right and left so you can get the look you want.

The yellow label on the back of the brass wall plate states that it was Designed and Made by Starlight and Underwriter’s Laboratories Inc., Inspected Electric Fixture Issue C-20955 Made In U.S.A., E-12399-4, with the Union Made logo.

Condition: This fixture was rescued from a box where it was not receiving the best treatment--which it deserves. It has some small issues that luckily were not much, much worse!!

The brass wall plate as well as the brass cones that hold the shades all have light (typical daily use) scratches and several more that are a little more obvious. Not sure whether these can be buffed out or not--please look at photos and ask for additional views. I have plenty of photos.

The fiberglass shades are really in pretty good condition. There is one area of damage (inside back rim of right shade) to edge of fiberglass. It’s a raw edge about ½” long. The shades have some darkening toward the top, which is typical of these shades because of the heat of the bulbs. It’s important to use bulbs that are low wattage to prevent further darkening. I did a small test with a damp cloth and a little soap and was able to improve the look. BUT--I didn’t want to take the chance on damaging these shades so I will leave it to the new owners whether and how they clean them.

The wiring seems to be okay but I am no expert. We did a test (you can see my husband’s arm--which is not included, by the way) by plugging the wiring into a wall plug and voila!! The lights do work and look great. But please have someone knowledgeable look at the wiring--I repeat, the lights work but I am no expert on the safety of the wiring.

Size: From top of finial to base of shade (front view) - 11”
From top of finial to base of shade (back view) - 9”
Brass wall plate - approximately 5-7/8” diameter
Finial - 1”
Brass cone (top) - 2-½” long
Fiberglass shade - approximately 8” front length and 6” in back
Opening in base of fiberglass shade --- ovoid (?) shape - 5-¼” side to side and 5-5/8” front to back

I hope I’ve covered everything. If you have any questions or want to see close-ups or additional photos--I have a lot more but was limited to 5--please contact me.
