Handcarved from cow bone. The whales tail is a Maori symbol for protection in and around the water. Mythology tells the story of the first man coming to New Zealand on the back of a whale, so the whale is connected with safe journeys and brings peace. I have added a deep engraving showing a symbol of strength & spiritual growth.

Bone is a traditional material used by ancient cultures including the Maori for tools & jewellery. It is believed to carry the spirit of the wearer and is often worn before it is passed on as a gift. We prepare the bone without harsh bleach so it retains it's strength & suppleness along with it's natural flecks & grain.
Our designs are uniquely NZ. Handmade by my partner & I.

This piece measures just 3/4inch long or 20mm and just under 1 inch across. I have hung it on black waxed cord with slip knots so it can be worn a length to suit you.
Will be sent in a lovely black velvet gift pouch with a card describing the material and the meaning of the design and how to care for your carving.

Postage can take 2 weeks or more from New Zealand to the Northern Hemisphere. We do live out in the wilderness so sometimes I can't post things right away. Please ask me for an expected arrival time & I will keep you up to date.
Items are insured & packaged safely.

Thanks for looking at our work:-)
