This has got to be one of the coolest items I have found in Gramma's collection. A sterling silver 2 x 2 1/2 inch clasped purse on a 6" chain made in Wallingford, Connecticut by The Watrous Mfg. Co. in the 1910s. Inside edge has the engraving "STERLING" and the Watrous logo with the W and crescent.

This beauty is in very good condition and has 3 spring-loaded American coin compartments (quarter, dime, nickel) inside that push down as you add coins - each can probably hold 2 or 3 coins. Much more practical than stashing coins for the toilet in your brassiere, I must say...

The nickel depression mechanism works but is loose - could be easily secured with some skill and glue. There is also a small round monogram plate on each side, still waiting for someone's initials to be engraved in them.

This would make a really special gift and/or perfect addition to a coin purse collection. Would probably love some TLC and a spiffy shine. Please contact me for more pictures if you want and don't hesitate to ask me any questions.

- Chain: 6 inches
- Coin purse: 2 x 2 1/2 in.
