I've seen this somewhere, the red circle with what seems like a ring of blackboard with white chalk drawings on it. I'm not sure where but I think it might be a button. I wish I could wear red, I'd knit a cardigan just to sew buttons like this to.

Whorl: aspen, 3 inches, hand-painted in red/black/white
Shaft: natural hard wood with coordinating detailing
Total Weight: .68 oz/19 gms
Total Length (including hook): 9 inches/23 cms

Fine Details: I cut my whorls from actual boards, using a drill press with a hole saw--these are NOT craft store blanks! Each is then carefully shaped and sanded to a smooth, snag-free finish prior to further decoration. I use tiny, brass eye screws (opened, adjusted and tweaked for the best spin for each individual spindle) rather than bulky cup hooks. Once complete, each spindle is sealed with several coats of premium satin polyurethane, hand-rubbed with fine steel wool between coats. Each spindle is signed, dated and the weight added in fine print on the bottom of the whorl.

This spins like a dream! The light weight makes it perfect for those slippery and/or short staple luxury fibers. Wonderful for spinning lace and fingering weights.

An awesome choice for the beginner (much better than those clunky student spindles) or the collector.

drop spindle, (small) Red Button, .68 oz top whorl
