This vintage West German metal box is in the style of a 1950s company called Ruscha, but is likely from the 80s. Decorated with abstract horses in turquoise blue and orange, it has a rounded top and attractive, Deco styling. Details and the inside are rendered in a very shiny gold tone (probably brass) on brown. It has an elegant, somewhat masculine design.

Use this to store cookies and sweets, or just about anything else you'd like to put on display. I don't know if it was used originally as a cigar tin; no marks really tell anything about it. The circular mark on the bottom says, "Container Made in Western Germany," referring to the era when communism divided that country. The hinge-edge of the lid has a tiny mark that reads "HK 456/1." This second mark may indicate the Hong Kong cookie company, although I couldn't find a good example of their mark online to confirm that. This tin could date to any period within the Cold War era, but I suspect it was made in the 1980s, just before the Berlin wall fell.

Dimensions:
7in. L x 6 in. W x 3 in. H (US)
17.7 cm. L x 15.2 cm. W x 7.5 cm. H (Metric)

Condition notes: This tin has a bit of wear, with some small chips and scratches in the paint and a few small dents, including in the lid. I think they give it character and don't detract from the look of the piece. It also has what appears to be gum residue on the bottom from a square sticker. I was not able to remove that. I have tried to represent it well in photos, and am selling it as it is.

I ship this box parcel post domestic with delivery confirmation (3-9 days), or first class international (approximately 10-14 days). Where possible, I pack multiple items in the same package and combine shipping.
