For the funnest about-to-be-30 year old you know.

Printed with love, sweat, and hot pink ink on an antique Vandercook press.

The paper is velvety and luxurious 110lb Crane's Lettra, which gives the type a nice deep impression. And it's 100% cotton (tree-free!).

Card size: 5.5" x 4.25" (A2)

Blank inside.

Card comes with a kraft paper envelope, and its own resealable protective sleeve.

All cards are printed, trimmed, scored, folded and packed by little old me.

So... What's letterpress all about?

First I design a layout. Then I turn the computer file into a piece of film. Then I rent time at a lovely studio where they have a plate maker and letterpress machines. I use the piece of film to burn the design into a polymer plate. (Kind of like exposing photo paper, but more 3d-like.) Then I line the plate up on a big, old, not being-made-anymore, hand-cranked press called a Vandercook. I hand-mix some custom ink colors (or special-order neon ones), and I apply ink to the press. Then I clip sheet of thick, soft, schmancy paper onto the press. I roll the ink, and then the paper, over the plate, which stamps the design into the paper and makes a nice, deep impression, like a wedding invitation.
I pull the paper off of the press. Then I adjust my set-up again, and again, until the design is lined up perfectly, and the impression is consistent. Then I roll, print, pull. Roll, print, pull. (Repeat a few hundred times.) Then I hand-trim each of those hundreds of pieces of paper down to card-size. And score them. And fold them. And stuff them with cute matching envelopes. And stuff those guys into protective, resealable sleeves so they don't get dirty or banged up. Then I pack them up all nice and send them out to you. :)

So what you get is a juxtaposition of very casual phrases with a super-formal printing methods and materials. Or a digital layout, transformed by chemistry, and executed by hand and an analog metal machine. Or just fun cards that look and feel nice.
