This traditionally made patchwork lap quilt or comforter is pieced from Moda Felicity charm squares and a cream cotton sateen. It has a border in a toning turquoise and a plain lilac cotton backing fabric which act as a perfect foil for the machine quilting. Each floral panel has been quilted in a different way and the mullioned window effect has been accentuated by the geometric framing to each panel.

In the summer of 1973, the 5 year old me lived in the Cornish village of Mullion next door to an old lady called Mrs Tresidder; she had a beautiful cottage garden and the beauty of her garden has inspired my own gardening style. While piecing this quilt I kept coming back to the images of that time and one of the fabrics actually looks like the rose sprigged paper I had on my bedroom wall.

The quilt measures 47" x 53" (119cm x 134cm) and has been prewashed to give the vintage look I love. The quilt is made of 100% cotton fabric, batting and thread to give a finished quilt which will last for years. It carries my own embroidered quilt label in toning colours.
