I do not know whether I was a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man. —Chuang Tzu

This handmade sterling silver butterfly wing was formed out of sterling metal clay, fired, finished, antiqued, then gilded with a gradient of slate blue, indigo blue, and warm gold to accentuate the veined details in the wing.

The wing pendant is captured by an ornately wire wrapped sterling silver frame, which alternates between bright sterling and darkened sterling with hand polished highlights. It holds accents of silver spheres. Genuine kyanite, mystic topaz, and London blue topaz hang beneath the wing.

The 18" gunmetal rolo chain has an additional 1.25" extender at the clasp. The pendant is 1.75" high.

Metal clay work is a very involved handmade process which results in distinct and one-of-a-kind creations. Small variations and imperfections are part of the beauty and charm of this medium, and it can produce some stunning results. Once fired, this silver metal clay becomes .925 sterling silver.
